While studying at the University of Georgia, she was awarded a tax internship at the top independent accounting firm in Georgia, studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris, and was a founding member of the local mountain bike club. After graduation, Gretchen moved to Vail, Colorado to pursue her dream of becoming a professional mountain bike racer. In 1997, she received her first full-time contract to race for a professional mountain bike team. Gretchen has raced successfully in the Americas and Europe since then. Highlights of her racing career include 2004 and 2005 National Marathon titles, 2002 and 2003 Transalp Challenge titles, and several nominations to represent the US National Team at the World Championships.
In 2001, Gretchen returned to her accounting career at a local CPA firm in Boulder, CO. Her focus was taxation and consulting for small businesses and individuals. During her five years with this firm, she gained experience in business valuation analysis, litigation support, and tax preparation for all entity types. She continued racing professionally part-time and used her spare time on the road to study for the CPA exam which she passed in 2003. Since 2003, Gretchen has also been providing small business consulting and individual tax planning on a freelance basis. She discovered that start-up and small businesses needed access to quality accounting and business setup advice. In 2005, Gretchen started her own firm to better serve this market. Gretchen's goal is to provide individuals and small businesses with personal, cost-effective accounting services. |
